The ORT today announced that it will organize a naval training center in London as part of its general program of preparing Jews for various professions.
The announcement was made by Dr. David Lvovitch, leader of the organization, at a meeting of the World ORT Executive here. The meeting approved the establishment of ORT tool supply corporations in various countries. It also decided to call a World ORT Conference here in August.
Aron Syngalowsky, vice-chairman of the world executive, reported that more than 4,000 Jews received technical training in 165 ORT institutions in Europe during the first five months of this year. These do not include 3,500 displaced Jews who are attending 70 courses established by the ORT in camps in Germany.
Judge Leon Meiss, French-Jewish leader and member of the ORT executive, reported on his visit to Palestine. He stressed the need for professional training of Jews arriving in Palestine.
