Virtually the entire Jewish population of Kielce were victims of Thursday’s pogrom, according to Jewish leaders here. They pointed out that Kielce had a Jewish population of about 120, not 800 as previously reported. Of these, 40 were killed and 60 injured.
Jewish observers are expected to attend the trial in Kielce tomorrow of the first group of persons arrested for participation in the riot. The prosecution is expected to ask the death sentence and summary execution. Meanwhile, Jews throughout Poland are reported to be fearful of leaving their homes, particularly in the smaller cities.
