World Jewish Congress Representatives Arrive in Austria to Investigate Jewish Position

Siegfried Altman and Ernest Stiassny, representatives of the World Jewish Congress, have arrived in Vienna to investigate the position of Austrian Jewry.

While here they will attempt to aid the Austrian Jewish community by: determining the citizenship status of Austrian Jews now in foreign countries; clearing up economic and social questions for Austrian Jews who intend to be repatriated; supporting the Jewish communities, as well as individual members, in the problem of restitution of Jewish property and helping the victims of racial persecution to obtain the same privileges granted to political refugees.

Also, by inquiring into anti-Semitism in Austria, both among the general public and the government; determining if public opinion favors emigration of Austrian Jews or prefers that they remain; assisting the Jewish communities on questions of political, social and religious rights; and extending additional relief to the needy Jews.
