Palestine was today held up as an “object lesson in what small nations can expect from the imperialistic policies of certain big powers pursuing their selfish aims” by Mikhail Mikhailov, Soviet radio commentator, speaking on an English language broadcast.
Referring to Palestine as “the bastion of the British in the Middle East, particularly now that they must withdraw from Egypt,” Mikhailov declared that “the British hope to control the whole of Northeast Africa and Asia Minor” from their bases there.
He charged that the leaders of two leading American parties are “always free with policies supporting Zionist claims in Palestine” because they hope to gain support of Jewish circles in the United States.
