The National Lawyers Guild at its annual convention here unanimously adopted a statement of policy in regard to the Jewish people which calls for the immediate entrance of 100,000 displaced Jews to Palestine, security for the Jews in Europe, and haven for Jewish refugees in the United States. The statement was drawn up and submitted by the American Jewish Congress’ Commission on Law and Social Action.
The statement, which condemned Foreign Minister Bevin’s recent remarks concerning the Jews as a “shocking insult to the democratic people of the world,” demanded abrogation of the White Paper and land restrictions in Palestine. It also urged that provisions safeguarding European Jews by outlawing anti-Semitism be included in the peace treaties together with provisions guaranteeing return of Jewish property and restitution for losses and injuries.
