Irgun Basra, a new Jewish settlement for Palestinian veterans of the British Army, was opened today on 125 acres of land near the colony of Raannana, in the vicinity of Tel Aviv.
Present at the inaugural ceremony at the settlement, established with funds raised in the United States, were Charles J. Rosenbloom, of Pittsburgh, national chairman of the United Jewish Appeal; Jacob Sincoff, of New York, co-treasurer of the U.J.A. drive; Henry Montor, of New York, executive vice-chairman of the U.J.A., and Harold J. Goldenberg, of Minneapolis, chairman of the national trade and industry division of the U.J.A.
