Central Committee for Jewish Education in Europe Proposed at Paris Conference

The creation of a central committee for Jewish education in Europe, composed of representatives of the American Jewish Committee, the Anglo-Jewish Association, the Joint Distribution Committee, the Jewish National Council of Palestine, as well as delegates from important Jewish communities, was proposed today at the world conference of Jewish education, meeting here.

The committee, whose proposed is London, would have the function of training religious and educational leaders and teachers, publishing books and setting up a program of adult education. The delegates discussed the need for the reconstruction of education in the shattered European communities. Reports were submitted on the decline of Jewish education in central and eastern Europe.
