The Palestine Government is contemplating postponing its grants-in-aid and other financial allotments to the Jewish National Council of Palestine until the latter withdraws its decision not to cooperate with the authorities, it was learned here today. The largest part of the financial aid given by the government to the Council is for health activities and maintaining the Jewish school system.
Commenting on the government’s alleged intentions, S.Z. Shragai, the Council’s press officer, said that any such step might speed up implementation of the second stage of the non-cooperation campaign–non-payment of taxes. He said that the government has no right to withhold grants as long as the Jewish community provides the funds through the taxes it pays.
