Rosh Hashonah was observed under more cheerful conditions this year, as a result of the improved situation of Bulgarian Jewry, which can be attributed in part to the aid extended by U.S. Jews through the JDC. There was comparatively less religious fervor than last year, which was reflected by smaller attendance at synagogue services.
