Vaad Hatzala Aide Appeals for American Rabbis to Work Among Displaced Jews

An appeal for American rabbis and spiritual leaders to go overseas to work among the displaced persons in Europe was made here today by Dr. Isaac Lewin, former member of the Polish parliament, who has just returned from Europe where he assisted Jewish refugees to immigrate to the United States.

Speaking at a press conference in the offices of Vaad Hatzala, Orthodox relief society, Dr. Lewin also appealed to the American public to send more food to the DP camps of Germany and Austria because UNRRA has been forced by a shortage of supplies to cut the daily food ration from 2,000 calories to 1,200. He praised the sympathetic approach of high Army, UNRRA, and State Department officials to the displaced persons problem.
