The displaced persons question in the American and British zones of Germany will be discussed in the current Anglo-American talks which began in Washington today on economic unification of the two zones, Lieut, Gen. Lucius D. Clay, Deputy Military Governor of the American zone, said today.
Gen. Clay, who returned to the United States to participate in the talks and to consult with Secretary of State Byrnes at the meeting to the Big Four Foreign Ministers, was asked at a press conference whether the care of displaced persons in the American zone would become a joint responsibility with the British, or would be continued by the United States. He replied that the problem is a mutual one. It will be discussed at the conference under the second point of the agenda, which is the short term economic policy to be followed by the two zones.
