Anti-jewish Riot in Rumanian City; Jewish Houses and Synagogue Demolished

A number of Jewish shops and synagogue were demolished during anti-Jewish incidents which took place in the city of Focsani during the general elections on Tuesday, it was reported today. The police have started an investigation.

In addition to the three major Jewish organizations which joined the government bloc during the elections, the Zionist organization issued an appeal to Jews on the eve of the elections to vote for the government bloc. The number of Jewish voters was unusually high. Twenty-five Jews of various political parties were among the 415 candidates on the government bloc’s slate.
