A tannery in Italy, a needle trade factory in Breslau and a youth training center in Lower Silesia, Poland, have been established to assist Jewish workers by the American Jewish Labor Council, it was reported at a press conference here today by a ten-man delegation of the Council which has just returned from a two-month tour of the Jewish communities of Europe. The delegation said that it also pledged to raise funds to purchase raw materials, clothing and machinery for various Jewish cooperatives.
The delegates emphasized that they represented various political groupings and included leaders of C.I.O. and A.F.L. unions. They hailed the cooperation shown by the governments of the various countries they visited, particularly France, Italy, Poland, Yugoslavia and Hungary. While in Europe they distributed $100,000 in relief funds which had been raised among trade union groups in the United States.
