Jewish Lawyer Named Rumanian Consul at Haifa; Rumania Approves Ort Training Plan

Solomon Herscovici, a Rumanian Jewish lawyer, has been named Rumanian consul at Haifa, it was announced here today.

The Rumanian Government has accepted an ORT plan for the vocational training of approximately 25,000 young Jewish men and women which will permit their rapid integration into the country’s economic life. Previouely, these young people could not obtain employment as skilled craftsmen in various handicraft industries until they received a government certificate guaranteeing that they had served an sacredited apprenticeship for four years, Under the new set-up the government will give full parity recognition to an ORT certificate stating that the holder has completed two years of an ORT intensified training course.

A Joint Distribution Committee supply transport has arrived at Constanza with food and other supplies for Jewish hospitals and schools, it was announced here today.
