Ben Obrant, a local Jewish butcher, has been honored by receiving an apostolic benediction from the Pope. In the certificate given to Obrant, the Pope stated that he wished his sympathy for suffering Jewry to be known. Obrant received the blessing for his charitable contributions to the order of the Religious Franciscan Sisters of Mary.
