The Federation of Uruguayan Teachers has sent a memorandum to Juan Peron, president of Argentina, protesting the recent discharge of Jewish teachers in Argentinian schools.

The memorandum, which levelled charges of anti-Semitism at the Argentinian educational authorities, said in part: “We consider as highly significant that among the dismissed persons is a great percentage of people of Jewish origin.” The memorandum ends with an appeal for the reinstatement of the Jews as an indication of progress toward democracy in Argentina.
