Thousands of students today held demonstrations on 83 university campuses throughout the country protesting against “the virtual martial law” imposed by Britain on Palestine and urging unrestricted Jewish immigration there.

The demonstrations which were conducted simultaneously between noon and 2 p.m., were organized by the Intercollegiate Zionist Federation of America in cocperation with non-Jewish groups.

In New York, students from City College, Columbia, Brocklyn College, New York University, Queens College and the New School for Social Research converged on the British Consulate and presented to the Consul a proclamation denouncing the British blockade against Jewish immigration, denial of civil rights to Jews, restriction of land purchases and “deliberate incitement of Arabs against Jews.”
