No Jewish emigrants from Poland have arrived here since Feb. 20, when the Polish Government is reported to have closed the border between Poland and Czechoslovakia. A few hundred Polish Jews are in Czechoslovakia, awaiting an opportunity to enter Austria.
Although there have been no agreements made concerning the emigration of the thirty-odd thousand displaced Jews bore, nor any countries of resettlement set, it is learned that the DP’s will not remain after occupation troops leave, but are unlikely to be moved before then.
The occupation forces will be withdrawn 90 days after the Austrian treaty, which is to be drafted in Moscow this month, becomes effective. It is believed that the first transport of refugees will be moved to the American zone of Germany at the beginning of the summer.
