Lazlo Makkai, who drafted the anti-Jewish legislation of the pro-Nazi Hungarian Government, is reported to have been apprehended in Italy by British military authorities, the Communist daily Szabadsag says today. The paper states that Makkai, who was in Austria, escaped to Italy with the assistance of the fascist underground, and was en route from Rome to Capri when arrested for not having proper identification documents. He claimed that he was a Jewish refugee attempting to reach Palestine.
