Some 900 Jewish men, women and children are on board nine ships en route from Europe to new homes in the United States, Canada and Latin America, the Joint Distribution Committee announced today.

J.D.C. assistance efforts in their behalf included the handling of visas, passports and other legal papers; transportation to the port of embarkation; arranging passage aboard the vessels; providing luggage and pocket money for the journey and the advancing of travel fares. The United Service for New Americans provided its corporate affidavit covering many of the refugees en route to the United States.

USNA today announced that 473 Jewish refugees from Shanghai are scheduled to arrive at San Francisco June 30 aboard the S.S. General Meigs. The Jews who originally fled the Nazi regimes in Germany and Austria and fled through Europe and Asia where they were interned by the Japanese after Fearl Harbor Day, will join relatives scattered throughout most of the 48 states.
