The United Nations committee drafting an International Bill of Rights today completed its work, producing a draft declaration of human rights which will be sent to the full Commission on Human Rights as a working paper.
At a press conference, Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, chairman of the committee, declared that the rights of minorities to protection against discrimination are implicit in the “clear enunciation” of the right to life with dignity and a compilation of social security rights on a basis of equality, which are included in the committee’s draft declaration. The right to work, to health, to education and to unemployment benefits are all established on a non-discriminatory basis, she added.
