A resolution urging approval of the Stratton Bill was defeated 556 to 341 yesterday by the annual convention of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. The vote came after a headed debate during which leaders of the organization pleaded for approval of the resolution, citing the country’s obligations to the displaced persons of Europe. A solid bloc of Middle Western delegates were instrumental in securing the resolution’s defeat.
