Rabbi Barnett R. Brickner of Cleveland, administrative chairman of the Jewish Welfare Board’s war-time Committee on Army and Navy ##ligious Activities, was today awarded the Medal of Merit by Secretary of War Robert Patterson at a ceremony in his office.The decoration, the highest civilian award conferred by the President, was ##ven to Rabbi Brickner for his”outstandingservices” to the United Nations. The ci##tion credited Rabbi Brickner with “an inestimable contribution to a better under##anding between Jewish civilian natives in the various countries which he visited ## the military personnel of the United Nations.” He toured five war fronts on ##ur continents as a representative of the American Jewish community.
