Admiral Richard L. Connolly, Commander of the American fleet in the Eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean, denied at a press conference here that American ships were searching for, or intercepting, refugee vessesl.
Asked whether, in view of the Palestine situation, the United States had done anything to help Britain intercept the refugee ships, Connolly replied that there is ## foundation to recent reports that U.S. ships were engaging in search operations. ## was further asked whether, if United States fleet units saw refugee ships, they would inform the British. “I would see no reason for our passing information like ## on to the British,” Connolly replied. “We are not engaged in those activities anyway.”
