Following the arrest of three displaced Jews for the beating of two American soldiers at a DP camp near here July 31, Army authorities this week-end withdrew a cordon of troops which had been thrown around the camp. Army officials said that two of the Jews have admitted striking one of the soldiers in self##, following an attack on DP’s by U.S. troops.
Major Abraham Hyman, legal advisor to Judge Louis E. Levinthal, advisor on Jewish affairs to the Army, who visited the camp last week, said that he would attempt to ## the three arrested Jews when they come to trial.
During the week when the camp was surrounded by armed troops, all entrances to the camp, as well as telephone communications, were strictly controlled. It is expected that normal activities will be resumed at the camp now that the guards have been withdrawn.
