A group of six Chicago business leaders touring Europe and Palestine in behalf of the United Jewish Appeal, to learn at first-hand the conditions of refugee and displaced Jews, arrived here today in a special plane and was met at the airport by the American Ambassador, Stanton Griffis, as well as representatives of the Central Jewish Committee and the J.D.C.
Impressed with the ruins of the Warsaw Ghetto, the delegates said that it was “the largest monument to German cruelty.” John Balaban, head of the delegation, reported that conditions in the DP camps in Italy were worse than in any other country they had visited. The party will leave shortly for Frankfurt.
