Two Jews were today given prison sentences and fined (##)r allegedly assaulting a police officer during a clash at a meeting sponsored here (##) the pro-fascist British League of Ex-Servicemen last week-end.
The two Jews, David Goldstein, 43, and Murray Silver, 43, were sentenced to (##) months and $40 in fines and one month and $20 in fines, respectively. Jewish (##)rcles contrasted the relatively harsh sentences imposed on the Jews with the light (##)nes levied on many anti-Semitic rioters during the recent anti-Jewish demonstrations throughout England.
Police today threw guards around synagogues in Brixton and Brockley following receipt of an anonymous telephone call which threatened to blow up a synagogue in nearby Peckham. Because there is no synagogue in Peckham the police decided to take precautionary measures in the other two communities on the assumption that the caller (##)y have made a mistake in the location of his target. However, no attempt to attack (##)e temples was made.
