The Foreign Office today warned the Jewish Agency here that “extreme measures” would be taken against visaless immigrants resisting boarding parties inside Palestine territorial waters.
The government warned that it would not be responsible for injury or lose of life as a result of resistance, and that the Navy has been given full authority to use whatever measures it sees fit to quell resistance.
The internment camps on Cyprus which already house nearly 15,000 visaless Jewish immigrants could accommodate an additional 10,000 persons, it was reported here in dispatches from the island.
A group of about 200 men, women and children sailed from Cyprus for Haifa today aboard the vessel Efthalia, the dispatches also said. They will enter Palestine under the monthly quota of 350 from Cyprus. They arrived in Palestine aboard the refugee transport Knesseth Israel last November.
