Xavier Vallat, former Commissioner of Jewish Affairs in the Vichy Government, and Louis Darquier de Pellepoix, who succeeded him in that post, will go on trial for war crimes before the French High Court Dec. 2. Pellepoix, who fled France after the liberation, will be tried in absentia. The trial is expected to last until Dec. 5.
