Three hundred and eighty six Jewish needle-de workers, former inmates of concentration camps, arrived in Canada this week. They will be employed in the clothing industry in Montreal, Toronto and Winnipeg. ?er groups are expected to arrive shortly.

A group of 69 Jewish war orphans from a D.P. camp in Prien, Germany, also ?ived. Their arrival brings to 300 the total number of war orphans admitted to ?ada under a special Order-In-Council issued in May, l947, and providing for the mission of 1,000.

Seven Jewish refugees, former inmates of Bergen-Belsen and other concen?tion camps, have been arrested in Toronto, after the discovery that they entered ?ada illegally. A rabbi who visited the arrested refugees stated that they have greatened to commit suicide if forced to return to Germany. A Jewish newspaperman ? acted as interpreter said that the Jews who had entered the country on forget British passports believed the documents were genuine.

An appeal has been made to the authorities to deal leniently with the ?rested refugees. The Jewish Immigrant Aid Society has undertaken to act in their half and representations are also being made by the Canadian Jewish Congress.
