Secretary of State George C. Marshall today declined to state whether the United States might bring charges before the Security Council against Syria for threatening peace and security in Palestine.

Asked at his weekly press conference whether the presence of Syrian troops in Palestine represents a menace to peace and security which the United States might bring up at the Security Council, the Secretary replied that he would not comment on that at this time.
