The question of defending the city of Jerusalem against a possible attack from the outside after it is transferred to the administration of the United Nations was the major item under discussion to day at the Trusteeship Council. The consensus of opinion among the members was that the Security Council will have to give serious consideration to the problem.
The Council tonight adopted a U.S. proposal providing for a three-year residency qualification citizenship in the internationalized city of Jerusalem. A British alternative calling for five years residence was defeated.
