Expressing regret that President Truman “should ### lead in a retreat” from the U.N. decision to partition Palestine, some 2,000 representatives of Zionist, labor, fraternal and civic organizations today adopted a resolution urging the U.S. Government to resume its leadership at the U.N. on the Palestine issue and help implement partition.
In an emergency session of the National Committee for Labor Palestine, the delegated rejected the U.S. proposal at the Security Council to form a Big five committee to investigate the present situation in Palestine and determine whether it threatened would peace. Massages of support from Philip Murray, C.I.0. President, and A.F.L. head William Green were read and Congressman Jacob Javits of New York spoke.
