Convention of Jewish Social Workers Opens in Atlantic City; Discusses Welfare Problems

One thousand leaders in the field of Jewish social service will participate in the opening here tomorrow of the 1948 annual convention of the National Conference of Jewish Social Welfare meeting in conjunction with the National Association of Jewish Center Workers and the National Council for Jewish Education.

Delegates to the Conference, coming from every part of the country, will discuss latest developments in social work and education at meetings, seminars and functional sessions scheduled through Wednesday, May 19. The opening session will feature a discussion of “The Implications of Developments in Palestine for American Jewry.” Greetings will be extended by Louis H. Sobel, president of the Conference. Future sessions will review every aspect of social work from the problems of adolescents to care for the aged and will also cover such subjects as administration, social work in relation to overseas needs.
