Swedish Jews today held celebrations marking the birth of the new state of Israel. Forty prominent non-Jewish writers issued a statement pledging wholehearted solidarity of the Jewish people in their struggle for human rights and independence. They also called for the founding of a Swedish-Palestinian society.
