Despite the fact that neither U.N. mediator Count Folke Bernadotte nor any international agency has approached the British Government to supply sea, land or air forces to help check on observance of the U.N. cease-fire in Palestine, Reuters today reported that the government was “considering supplying coastal vessels and aircraft.” for this purpose.Reuters credited the report to “authoritative” sources.
The news agency also reported that it had learned that the British Government would mate no move to permit the emigration of some 24,000 Jewish internees from Cyprus unless either Bernadotte or one of the belligerent parties raises the issue.
The Trade Advisory Council of Britain, an organization affiliated with the Board of Deputies of British Jews, today adopted unanimously s resolution urging the British Government to grant Israel early recognition. The Council is holding its annual meeting here.
