The British General Post office is ready to resume postal exchange with Palestine, it was learned here today, but it is awaiting approval from the Foreign Office.

The Foreign Office is somewhat hesitant in approving this because it would imply de facto recognition of the state of Israel. It is consequently reported to be awaiting the outcome of negotiations between Israel and the International Postal Union at Geneva.

A report from Tel Aviv says that U.N. representative John Reedman cabled Secretary-General Trygve Lie that Israelis postal system is functioning well and is able to distribute mail efficiently. The Postmaster General of Israel has been advised by Reedman of the contents of his cable.
