A campaign to obtain Congressional action on Israel during the coming special session was announced this week-end by the American Jewish Labor Council. Pointing to “the wide discrepancy between the major party Flanks on Israel and the trace proposals of the American delegation to the United Nations,” the Council said it would seek the introduction of a joint Congressional resolution directing President Truman and the State Department to take the following Steps:
1. Accord Israel de jure recognition. 2. Lift the U.S. embargo on the shipment of arms to Israel. 3. Support the General Assembly’s Nov. 29 resolution to partition Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states. 4. Stop E.C.A. funds to Britain, which has armed and financed the Arab aggressors.
