Promising that he will do everything possible to secure the early release of the five British subjects now in the hands of the Israeli Government who will stand trial soon on charges of espionage, Foreign Secretary Ernest Bavin told the House of Commons today that “I think this is a very bad start to the proposed new state.”
Bevin said that Sir Alexander Cadogan, British delegate to the U.N. Security Council, would soon raise the question of obtaining the Britons’ release in the international tribunal.
