A conference of 51 Republican Senators meeting this corning to decide strategy for the rest of the special session of Congress, discussed amending the displaced persons law to wipe out discriminatory features, but came to no decision on expected action.

The chairman of the group, Senator Eugene Milikin of Colorado, said that if any changes were made in the bill it would be restricted to changing the date from Dec. 22, 1948 to April 21, I947. This change would broaden the bill to make acceptable many Jewish DP’s who fled from Poland after the earlier date.
