Deep disappointment and bitter resentment make the atmosphere in the Jewish sector of this city today following the news of the Latrun water pumping station blast which will aggravate to an even greater extent the already serious water situation.
The shock of the Latrun explosion had hardy worn off when it because known that no arrangements have been made by U.N. officials here to permit Jews to visit the Wailing Wall in the Arab-held Old City to commemorate the Ninth of Ab, which falls tomorrow but will be observed on Sunday, since fasts are not permitted on the Sabbath. The Arabs had stipulated certain conditions which the Jews has to meet in order to be allowed to pray at the Wailing Wall, but these condition were never officially transmitted to the Jewish community by the U.N., it was learned today.
One Jewish soldier was killed, two were seriously and several others slightly injured last night when Arab Legionnaires were repulsed after attempting to break through Israeli defenses in the Mt. Zion area. An unknown number of casualties inflicted on the Arabs, who used six end 25-pound shells in their assault.
