Dr. Abraham Klausner Named Provost of Hebrew Union College-jewish Institute of Religion

The appointment of Dr. Abraham J. Klausner as provost of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, America’s oldest Jewish seminary, was announced today by Dr. Nelson Glueck, president of the College-Institute.

A former U.S. Army Chaplain who organized the Central Committee of Liberated News Germany, Dr. KLauoner will direct the HUC-JIR $12,000,000 Foundation Fund campaign. The Hebrew Union College, founded in Cincinnati in 1875 was merged with the Jewish Institute of Religion in New York City in July, 1948. The combined institution is the sole rabbinical school of Liberal Judaism in the U.S.
