Representatives of Jewish communities in the U.S. zone of Germany and the Jewish Restitution Successor Organization have reached an agreement on the use and eventual disposition of Jewish communal property after a meeting here between representatives of the assembly of communities and the J.R.S.O., it was announced today.
The agreement provides that currently active communities shall take over control and responsibility of their communal property or assets recovered through restitution as well as the assets of all Jewish foundations within their area as long as such property and assets are used for communal purposes. In the event a community is dissolved or the property is no longer needed for communal purposes, it will be surrendered to the J.R.S.O. for relief and rehabilitation purposes. Also, property of communities and foundations which no longer exist are surrendered to the control of the J.R.S.O. now.
