“oliver Twist” Will Be Checked in U.S. Zone in Germany for Anti-semitic Contents

Gen. Lucius D. Clay, American commander in Germany, denied today that the controversial British film, “Oliver Twist,” has been approved for exhibition in the American zone.

The U.S. commander, in a message to the World Jewish Congress, said that “full consideration will be given to the question of allowing this picture to be shown in Germany” and that “the picture will be especially screened from the standpoint of possible danger of anti-Semitic effects.”
