South African Jews Mark First Anniversary of U.N. Decision to Establish Israel

Celebrations marking the first anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly decision providing for the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine were held in Jewish communities throughout South Africa.

Addressing a large crowd at Coronation Hall here, Bernard Gering, chairman of the Zionist Federation of South Africa, and Chief Rabbi S. Rabinowitz thanked the South African Government for allowing the shipment of food supplies to Israel.
