New York State leads the rest of the country in the resettlement of displaced persons, Edward Corsi, N.Y. State Industrial Commissioner, today told some 500 persons at the annual donor luncheon of the women’s division of HIAS.

Corsi, who is chairman of Governor Dewey’s DP Commission, said that two out of every five displaced persons who have arrived in the United States since last October 30, have been settled in New York State. He reported that an analysis of the visits issued by the State Department to DP’s who have immigrated under the present legislation up until the end of February, shows that 36 percent were of the Jewish faith. He predicted that this proportion will decline shortly.
