The number of Jews who left Eastern Europe for Austria on their way to Israel reached 3,000 during April, while the figure for this month is slightly higher, Harold Trobe, Joint Distribution Committee director for Austria, reported here today following his return from Vienna for a vi3it to the U.S.

Touching on the situation of the Austrian Jews at present, he revealed that “there are now 11,000 native Austrian Jews” remaining in the country as compared with a pre-war Jewish population of 220,000. Eleven thousand Jews are now living in DP camps in Austria while an additional 12,000 Jews reside in cut-of-camp areas, he said.
