Dr. Goldstein Arrives in U.S. to Help U.J.A. Drive; Stresses Heed for “gift Dollars”

Dr. Israel Goldstein, Jewish Agency treasurer who arrived here yesterday to undertake a speaking tour throughout the U.S. in behalf of the United Jewish Appeal, told a press conference today that “some $200,000,000 in ‘gift dollars’ and an equal amount in investment dollars would be required to provide maintenance and economic integration for a total of 200,000 new immigrants.”

A concerted effort is now being made to establish new immigrants in agriculture, he stated, pointing cut that 20 percent of the population in Israel should work on the land.In this connection, he said that food production as well as security considerations make necessary an increase in the rate of settlement in the Negev, in the Galilee and in the corridor between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
