Israel’s foreign policy will not be decided on the basis of the Lausanne peace talks, Zalman Aharonovitch, chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs and Security, declared at the Knesset last night. The statement was made in response to a demand by Herut deputy Hillel Kook that the parliament hold a full-scale debate on the Lausanne conference.
Mr. Aharonovitch stated that his committee had discussed Israel’s foreign policy at a recent meeting at which Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett was present. The results of that discussion will be summarized at the next committee meeting, he added.
