J.D.C. Helped 20,000 Jewish Refugees to Emigrate to Israel, Other Countries During May

A total of 20,599 Jewish refugees from Europe, Africa and Asia migrated to Israel and other lands of resettlement during the month of May with the assistance of the Joint Distribution Committee, it was announced here today by the J.D.C.

Of the total, l8,449 Jewish men, women and children wars transported to Israel by the J.D.C. while 1,800 reached the United States; 115 went to Canada, 55 to Australia and 120 to South American countries. In the last 13 months, the J.D.C. has helped over 190,000 Jewish emigrants to reach Israel alone, the statement said.
